Practical Use Cases

Report assembly

Join a cover sheet, report body, and appendix for one download.

Scan consolidation

Combine separately scanned batches into one archive.

Privacy and File Processing

Browser-local processing

Merge PDF keeps its PDF input in browser memory while the operation runs. The workflow creates PDF for local preview or download and does not send the entered values or selected file bytes to the GXA Toolbox application server.

Supported Inputs and Outputs

Input

  • PDF

Output

  • PDF

How It Works

The PDF engine opens each selected document and copies complete pages into a new PDF in the queue order; it does not turn those pages into screenshots.

Limitations and Important Notes

  • The tool merges whole files rather than selected page ranges.
  • Encrypted or damaged PDFs may need unlocking or repair first.
  • Large combined documents are constrained by available browser memory.

Worked Example

Place a two-page cover PDF above a twelve-page report and a three-page appendix; the result contains 17 pages in that order.

Helpful Tips

  • Check the queue order before merging.
  • Use Organize PDF afterward for page-level changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I merge files in a custom order?

Yes. Reorder the selected file cards before starting the merge.

Does merging reduce quality?

Pages are copied into the new PDF rather than deliberately rasterized or downsampled.

Can I merge only part of a PDF?

Use Extract PDF Pages first, then merge the extracted result.
