Image tools

Work from an original image to a delivery copy by choosing framing, dimensions, encoding and any cutout edits separately.

Frame and size

Crop changes the area retained; resize changes the pixel grid. For a square profile image, choose a square crop before reducing dimensions so the subject is not stretched.

Prepare a delivery format

Compression trades encoding quality or structure for bytes; conversion selects the actual encoding. Transparent badges and photographs often need different choices.

Inspect or interpret an image

OCR produces an imperfect transcript rather than a certified copy. Metadata inspection and GPS stamps are different tasks: coordinates can reveal where a photo was taken or where a manually entered location points.

Alpha, masks and common questions

Alpha represents transparency; a mask decides which parts of a cutout survive. Does a white preview prove transparency? No. Does upscaling restore detail? No. Inspect the saved output against a suitable background.

Read before choosing a workflow

The guides explain output tradeoffs and verification steps rather than promising identical fidelity for every source file.
