What a QR code actually stores
A QR code carries a payload, not a guarantee of trust. Learn how to test a generated code and inspect a decoded destination.

The pattern is a representation of data
A QR image may contain plain text or a URL. If it holds a URL, the code itself does not need to contain the destination page; it tells the scanner where to go. A site can change what that URL serves without changing the printed pattern.
GXA QR Generator creates a pattern from the entered value. It is not a hosted dynamic-link service, campaign manager or scan-counter backend.
Longer content can make a harder physical target
Capacity depends on the symbol version, data type and error correction. A denser pattern at the same printed size gives each small square less physical area, so capture quality matters.
Keep a clear border and high contrast. Error correction provides resilience, but it is not permission to crop the border, blur the image or cover arbitrary portions with artwork.
Test the actual delivery image
Generate a code using the final address, save it and scan the saved copy. Then test at the intended print or display size. A large preview decoding successfully does not prove that a small printed sticker will.
Read the recovered payload and compare the hostname, path and any required parameters. A typo encoded perfectly is still a wrong destination.
Decoding does not verify a website
Treat a QR destination like any unfamiliar link. Inspect the address before entering credentials or making a payment. HTTPS protects a connection; it does not prove that the destination belongs to the expected organization.
GXA readers try native detection and then a packaged fallback. Reader pages remain under publication review; a no-code result may reflect blur, clipping, decoder limits or a genuinely absent symbol rather than a malicious file.
